Introduction

Dear Visitor,

let me introduce myself briefly.

My name is György. It is a very short and common introduction sentence, except my name. It is quite unpronounceable for most of the tourists (the English equivalent would be George). Hungarians do love nicknames. If somebody calls me 'György' I might not pay attention as my family always called me Gyuri. Welcome to Hungary and to the Hungarian language :)

This is me with two (beautiful) friends in one of the pubs in Budapest

I was born in Northern Hungary in a town called Eger which is quite famous for its wines. It also means that I started to drink wine first and beer only later. After finishing the high school I decided to move to Budapest as the capital offers more universities (and possibilities generally speaking) and also more night life. I also started to drink beer. The reason is quite simple: beer costs less and as I did not like its taste it took more time to finish my beer. And during the university years there is always an occasion for celebrating. Of course we had some time also for studying.

I studied languages and tourism; surprise, surprise! After finishing my studies I moved abroad: I used to live on the Canary Islands, in Germany, in London and then in Norway. I have done many things in different countries, it was a really great experience. I have been working in Norway for three years as a tour guide but now I feel the time has came to do the same job (which I do love) in my country.

I do not regret all this time spending abroad but I always missed at least one thing: Budapest. Budapest for me is a perfect sized city: it is not too big but big enough. Budapest offers a lot more than any other cities in Hungary. Of course I am also emotionally connected to my country and to the capital city. I hope during my posts and my tours you can feel my enthusiasm and passion about Budapest, and also you might fall in love with the city as I did.
